Autograph letter signed : Woodford, to Arthur Moore, [1889 Apr. 1-2].

Mentioning a letter from Charles Sayle, and referencing their collaborative work on "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus." Hoping that they arrange to visit the theater that week, and looking forward to their next collaboration. Disparaging women as "simplex creatures -- therefore (this is not a paradox) -- more complicated," but noting that "this is a pity -- but one must take them as they are -- or not at all." Mentioning that he detests London and that "it was a very cynical star which dropped me in these islands." With a postscript titled "Latest Edition" (and dated Tuesday morning) noting that the barmaid called "Lena" has arranged an appointment and that his "spleen is temporarily dissolved." With an additional postscript worrying over Moore's health and suggesting that he follow Dowson's example of taking "no spirits -- [but only] half a pint of beer & a little burgundy."
